Natural Resource Assistant
Rockefeller State Park Preserve | April 2016- December 2017 This position was a new position at the Preserve, where I helped develop and carry out stewardship throughout the property. Focusing in on key areas, we did extensive invasive species removal and replanted native species. Native seed collection and propagation on site helped provide plants species with more localized genetics. I oversaw our vegetation monitoring specifically look at deer browse within the park, and the start of a long term study to measure our success with invasive management. I supervised our seasonal land stewards, high school interns, and volunteer program. |
Forest Ecologist | Prospect Park Alliance | July 2014- March 2016 Work Profile
I implemented park-wide restoration of natural areas, including site planning, site preparation, vegetation control of invasive plant species, mitigation of soil erosion, and planting native flora. Each summer we conduct our vegetation monitoring on long-term restoration sites to inform our future practices. I coordinated and supervised the natural resource internship program which helps with restoration projects and vegetation monitoring. |
